I love you baby <3

As I opened my christmas gifts this morning (and last night for yall that know me) i realized that I love my horse more than anything. Almost all of my gifts were for that big hairy animal and thats what I wanted. Sassy is my everything. Shes my whole life, my whole world, the pop to my tart, the gun to my holster, and any other weird saying you can think of!;) I love my sweets to death and I hope even when I move on from her she can stay with me as a lesiure horse. When we first came together about a year ago I never thought I would feel this way about her. She just wasnt a horse that was very "lovable", but now.. gosh now,, I can safley say we are together. When I go to visit her she comes, when shes on the crossties we can stand for hours on end and blow into eachothers nostrils. I can stand there forever with her big old head on my shoulder and I dont want it another way. Yea sure she acts up sometimes (*cough cough feild the other day Sassy!*) but I can very easily forgive her for those things because well, she my baby, my sweets, my missy, and all the other little gay names I give her! I love you Sassy and I hope you be in my life forever, we made it this far, aint nothin gonna stop us now!!

wow,, some news

WOOOOW have I got some news for yall! So much has happened since the last time I made a post. First of all I am no longer riding with Holly. There are multiple reasons and I will not discuss them on here. Second, obviously I didnt go to Clemson but that is deffintally okay cause 1, it was suppose to snow up there this weekend and it would have been cold as bajesus, 2, I had three projects I had to do this weekend and there would have been no way I wold have been able to get them done and 3, The people that usually show with Holly were not showing with her that time so I dont thin it would have been that fun. Third, I am not getting much riding time! >:( it has done nothing but rain rain rain and its pissing me off!! I have rode twice in two weeks and one of those times was a trail ride. Sassy is getting fat and losing muscle and so am I!:P We really need to get back to work so if it could stop raining for a little I would greatly appreciate it!!! Fourth, we are clearing land! Yes we are back to work on clearing my daddy's land. The man who was suppose to clear it for us is avoiding contact with my dad so we are back to clearing it by hand. A tree here, a tree there, and fires hopefully a couple times a week we can get it done soooon! I cant wait till it is cleared and Sassy is out there! well thats about it but I will update yall on the rest of the year and how it goes soon! see ya

New things

So I have some new news to report! First of all is the show next weekend :D I am going up to Clemson next weekend for our second show together! We will probably be hauling Sassy up there by ourselves then meeting Holly for the whole kit and kaboodle of the show... I think I am doing a 2' and 2'3 hunters, probably a flat class or two, the low gamblers choice jumpers, and I wanna run barrels on Sassy!:) She was originally trained as a western horse and has some nice turns on her so I wanna see how well were gonna do in that department. I hope it'll be just as fun as in the summer! As for other news thats actually about it,, I have still been riding Sassy at least three to four times a week but I havent much time to ride Sierra as much as I would like to :( but hopefully this sunday me and my dad are gonna take them on a trail ride. My dad on Sierra and me on missy Sassy. It'll be funnn! See yall!!

Pictures from my last post

I did that whole post and forgot to put up the pictures!! haha. The darker horse is Sierra and well.... yall all know who Sassy is ;)

Sassy, Sierra, a new rider, and no post!

So a lot has been going on lately and I havent written about it!:P Sooooo lets start with Sassy.... She has been great lately! She had been going through a little stage where she wasnt really paying attention to me, but now she is going back to her old self! She is bending for me again and is jumping everything I point her at when I tell her to take off. She has also been off of her weight supplement and is still holding her weight well, Im so happy! Next to talk about is Sierra!! Sierra is Sylvia Williams horse. She is a 22 year old QH. That mare is fat, blubery, and thick!! haha. But she is the sweetest thing, I have been riding her for Syliva. For being 22 years old you would never guess it, she still has lots of energy and a springy little jump! I have been trying to get her to lose some lbs and get some muscle tone. I actually do think she isnt quite as fat as from two weeks ago when we took our first ride! hehe. I hope to be able to ride her at least twice a week but I still put all my effort into ol Sassifras so I dont know how often I'll be able to ride her but I can still lunge her and keep her working. Last new thing is a new rider for Sassy. One of Hollys riders, Chipper is riding Sassy in weekly lessons. I have only been able to see a tiny portion of one lesson but they looked pretty good, They just have to learn eachother and chipper has to learn how sassy ticks:P It will be good for Sassy to have a different rider every now and again. Well thats about it for updates... still looking forward to Clemson show in December!

finally some time to write

So I finally have soem down time to actually write on this blog. So the other weekend we took Sassy up to Stono and did some cross country schooling! It was so muh fun! And I could not believe how well Sassy did for me! She only refused once and it was the very fist fence so I was quite happy!! She behaved herself so well except for her "pacing"... my mare does not like to stand still! hehe. I would like to give a big THANK YOU to Katie Drummond for hauling Sassy up there and holly for schooling me! There is pictures from that and they are on katies facebook and holly's blog. We also just got Sassy a blanket so she can stay all toasty warm on these getting cold nights! Other than that she has been doing very well. We have been practicing our hunters and Sassy is doing very well. well thats about it for now.... hopefully if my grades are good we will have a show to go to soon! ;)

new stuff

I have some new stuff to share with yall! :) Tomorrow me and some other people are going up to stono with Holly for some cross country! It will be mine and Sassy's first "real" cross country, and i hope it'll be really funn!! Im sure it will be though. Other than that Sassy has been doing quite well. We have really been working hard lately and its paying off! she has been doing very well with jumping and flat work! she has been beding quite nicely and jumping well too. I am going to have to order her a blanket soon too because of the temperature dropping! hehe. Thats all i really have to say for now, i will let you know how the cross country went! wish us luck!

hey there!

so hey everyone! I just wanted to update everyone on me and ol Sassifras! wow i havent called her that in awhile! hehe. but anyways... Sassy has been doing good. In case you didnt know she dropped a lot of weight when she coliced and she hadnt really been able to get it back. We were wondering if she had some type on worm in her so we just ordered a panacur power pack for her which should deffintally help! Aslo we oredered her a weight gaining supplement that has probiotics in it so she will get her... stuff... back after the worming. and hopefully she will put on some pounds! And yes, FINALLY my dad has got someone coming out to clear the land! They should be coming in with bulldozers in the end of septmeber! It is going to be sooo awesome when Sassy moves out there!!! I absoultley cant wait!:) But other than that we have been doing good. we are coming along well in our riding, we have been working on adjusting sassy's stride when we jump. Either shorting or lengthing it. and all i can say is Sassy doesnt like grids! hehe. she was sooooo naughty the first time we did them but now she is getting them down well! She is also doing well on her bending. If Sassy keeps improving like this i think her time to be put up for sale will come somtime in the spring. it will break my heart but im sure she will be happier with someone who can ride her and give her the love that i wont be able to when i get a new horse. but intil then we will keep on chugging along! I love my horse!!:)

that time again!

Oh yes it is time again for updates!! :) So lately Sassy and me have been doing great together! If you havent seen our first oxer on youtube, go look it up! haha. It was Sassy's first oxer ever and i think she tackled it quite well! We have also really been working on beding Sassy so she can build up those muscles and listen to me a tad bit better! Actually lately she has really been slowing down and being calm so we are thinking about switching her twisted fullcheek to a simple D ring! That would be awesome if she could go gently in that!:D I also went on a trail ride with Sylvia the other day and Sassy behaved herself absolutley WONDERFULLY!! I have never seen her be that calm on a trail before! I also rode her into my dads neighborhood from the barn! We had to go on the highway for about five mintutes before we get to the neighborhood but thats okay cause Sassy has no issues with cars! (which i am very happy about! haha) She gets better and better every day! well i'm about to go ride her so talk later!!!

it wont be the last!!

Well me and Sassy had a great first show and it deffintaly wont be out last! We left friday morning for Clemson and that first trip did pretty well. We did have a flat tire on one of the trailers but not Sassys trailer! We actually had to unload Em, Jessie, and Pickles in the gas station parking lot! It was hectic but we finally made it to Clemson! We gave the ponies their dinner and after they ate we tacked up and schooled. I'll tell you one thing. Me and Sassy made a complete fool out of ourselves when we schooled that night. Sassy had never been ridden in a covered arena and everything in it was spooking her! I also think the smell of the red clay bothered her cause she kept smelling the groud and was like, "OMG! whats this stuff????" haha. But the thing that supprised me was how slow she was at the show!! AT home (especially when we jump) she is like... bookin it around the ring but at the show I had to use a crop and we still looked like idiots!! haha. She also isnt used to fillers in jumps so she refused and hesitated A LOT! But thats okay! It gives me something to work on! So then Saturday came up and it was time to rock and roll! We kick started the day with the gournd rails divsison and we got a fourth in the Hunter part and a thrid in the equitation part! I was thrilled (even if it was ground rails... haha :)! Then we went into some flat classes and we got a second and third. Last but not least was X rails and we got a third in the equitation portion! I was sooooo happy!! I put Sassy away and at the end on the show HOlly asked me if I wanted to compete in the low gamblers choice jumpers and of course I said yes!! The jumps were 2' - 2'3 and we got a sixth in that class! We almost got fifth but Sassy refused one on the fences. Thats okay with me though!! Now that we are home we are jumping 2' and 2'3 a lot and we are working our way up to 2'6! We tried it the other day but she kept just barely tapping it with her hooves. Shes gotta pick up those front legs! haha. Another thing we did now that we are home is jump our first oxer !!it wasnt very high but we made it with ease! Sassy's first oxer will not be the last! :) IF KATIE DRUMMOND IS READING THIS WILL YOU PLEASE COMMENT ON IT SO I CAN GET YOUR BLOG??? I TOTALLY LOST IT BEFORE :P :):):):):)Bailey

get ready boys!

Dont mind my title, someone got me saying that. Boys is just everyone. haha. but anyways, I say that cause me and Sassy are ready and we are coming to get all yall!! Sassy has been doing extremely well with training and it is safe to say her health is back to normal! Besides her being slightly underweight from the colic she looks awesome!:) She has regained her muscle mass back amamzingly and her eye is looking semi better. Of course it wont go back to normal until it gets cold but this is looking good. So it is up and early tomorrow to leave for Clemson! Sassy will ride in Seans trailer and I will ride with Sean and Kaijsa. It should be fun. I am entering the Ameboa division while in Clemson because of me and sassy being so new to it all, but it should be good. Sassy and me are looking excellent so I wouldnt be suprised if we got a ribbon or two! But of course i'm not going to go cry in a corner if I dont. haha. Well thats it for now yall, see ya!

Life really is sweet

So over the past couple weeks I have been at blackberry I have really sat back and noticed things. I have noticed how people can act in either good or bad ways. ONe thing I have learned is that you cant choose your parents and you have to love them no matter what. Yea sure all parents can be a pain occasionally but you just gotta live with it. Another is that you CAN choose your friends and you have to choose them wisely. Dont just be friends with them casue their rich or because you think you will be cool hanging with them, its just not right. I've also learned that I have the horse of a lifetime. She may not seem that way to the rest of yall but for me I couldnt ask for anything better. Her whole personality is just the absolute greatest and she really trusts me. I have found things that Sassy will do for me that she would run from with other people (EX:laying her head on my shoulder). and she will jump things just b/c I ask her to, even if she doesnt want to. I have realized all these things and I couldnt ask for more.

I never thought my horse....

I never thought my horse would colic. Yes thats right, Sassy coliced on Friday night. As soon as I had left for my plane to chigago my mom got a call from Sylvia saying Sassy had gone down and she needed to call the vet. Apparently what happened Sassy just went down around feeding time and would not get up. Sylvia called the vet and asked what she needed to do and the vet asked her if she had any bantamine and Sylvia said yes. So she gave her 5 cc's of it. The vet later said that that banamine said probably saved Sassy's life! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SYLVIA!!!!! I know I will never be able to repay you for what you did for Sassy but I will try my hardest!!! :) She is now on bran mash diet but she can be started on grain tomorrow! I can also ride her now too. I never thought my horse would be the one to colic but she did and I am so happy that it ended well!!! I will never be able to repay Sylvia for saving Sassy's life....... Thank you

So I have been really busy latley so I havent really has any time to write and I dont have much time now so I'll make this quick. Sassy is getting much better! She is now 100% sound at the walk and 95% sound at the trot and we havent tried a canter yet... We really have to start training for Clemson in just a few weeks!! Jenn has agreed to train me so hopefully we can have a lesson next week! Thats it for horses but other than that I am really busy! With school workshops, and appointments and friends it is all one big mess! I am also leaving for chigago on Friday and I dont when I will be back. Soemtime in the next week. So thats it for now... Party at Maddys! woot woot!! :)

Not again!

So Sassy has had another injury. We are not exactly sure what happened but she is limping pretty bad on her front right leg and she has a medium sized cut on the inside of the leg. she also must have stepped in a ant pile b/c she has bites all over her fetlock and pastern of that leg too! So for now is iodine washes and bute and DMXO on her leg! Also cold hosing for the leg. There is not much swelling but there deffintally is some. It is not as bad as the last time she was limping like this so hopefully she should be 100% in about a week. We did move her up to the front pasture with Sierra and Snowy though so now you can see her from the road! Everytime I go to my dad's house I can see her! lol.

woooo! updates!! :)

So update time!! First of all, Sassy LOVES her new home!! She has so much grass now she doesnt know what to do with it all! haha. And she is now being fed a much richer grain so she is putting on the pounds nicely! yay! Right now she is in a smaller back pasture with only one of Sylvia's horses, Sierra. Sierra and Sassy are best buds now too! If I take Sassy out to ride then Sierra goes crazy trying to get her back! lol. But tomorrow Sassy should be moving up to the front pasture by the road with Sylvia's other horses, TJ and Snowy! I think she will like being with the other horses too. I havent been able to ride Sassy in a ring yet b/c of some legal issues but hopefully in the next day or two I can use her neighbor, Cathy's ring and get Sassy jumping and working again. For right now I have just been riding her on the MILES of trails around Sylvia's house. Like no kidding, you can go forever on those trails! I havent taken Sassy in very deep but I will someday! Another cool thing about Sylvia's is that it is so close to my dad's house I can ride the fourwheeler there and back! It gives me something to do when my dad and brother arent home. Another update is CLEMSON!! I have had an oh so generous offer from Holly to haul Sassy up to Clemson for me!! Thank you so much Holly!!!! I have to get in touch with Jenn about classes and stuff but if Jenn agrees I plan on doing flat w/t/c and mabey X rails. Of course it all depends on how Sassy behaves! It will be her first sleep away show, well actually her first show all together but still a "spend the night". haha. Well thats all the updates for now. See ya!!

Its so close I can taste it

Well, Sassy moving out to my dad's land is sooo close now!! There is not a specific date because my dads work schedule is messed up but some time in the next two weeks we are going to get out there and chop some trees!! My brother is going to get one of his friends to help so he can partly work off my brothers truck repair bill, and hoplefully we can "recruit" some more of his friends to help and my dad will give them 100 bucks apeice!! After we cut down the big trees my dad can borrow is friends backo and dig out all the stumps. Then all thats left is a fence and a lean-to! At first I didnt want Sassy out there till everything was done but now I'm thinking the bare minumum will do. Sassy will love it at my dads! A big pasture with grass, and excellent draining so it never floods, and she can go for a trail ride all the time b/c there are Sooooooooooooooo many trails around my dads house! I will probably go up to Lambs Ranch whenever Sassy moves and see if there are any people I can ride with, I have seen people before so I know there are some. I will love having a barn all to myself! I can make my own rules and do whatever I like cause finally I will be at a place that is MINE!! Cant wait!!

Today

So today was really good, so I just had to write about it. I went out to the barn early in the morning and I free jumped Sassy!! She was soooo good! I forgot my polo wraps at home so I only raised the bar to 2'3 but she cleared it amazingly!! She was really happy to do it too. I wasnt even holding the whip and she was galloping full speed around the ring and jumping the fence every time with barely any encouragement!! After we cooled out and put the jumps back I took sassy back to the barn and let her eat a bunch of yummy grass! hehe. But she loved it! Then I cleaned up all the poop in Sassy's pasture! I did it b/c of her eye problem and it will keep down on the flys. I did it about a week ago and I have noticed a big change in her eye! Thats about it. I will probably ride Sassy tomorrow then give her a break, then my lesson on tuesday!

Talking Smack

I just wanted to put up a little thing about talking bad about people to others. I hear all the time bad things about people and IIIIIII know they are are not all completely true. some are, true, but some arent. Although it probalby wont do any differece, I would just like to say, before you talk smack about somebody think to yourself... is it really worth it? is there a real reason? Am i saying this cause its neccesary or because I want to sigle someone out or make myself feel better? I understand that people make mistakes that concern ONE other person but that does not need to be spread around to everyone the know.It is childish and completly unneccesary. No one likes to have smack talked about them... dont do it to others unless it is completley neccesary which it usually is not.

**Updates**

So everything has been pretty normal down at the barn. Sassy is starting to gain her weight back slowly and now she is out with a horse named Bodie who eats just as slow as her! That way she can get all her food! Sassy's hooves also look pretty good with the new supplement I put her on and her eye is doing great too!! It is not running anymore and is not as red. But the vet says it will stay red all summer until the flys go away just to keep hydrating it... which I do after every ride with her!:) We have a lesson tomorrow and now that we have Sassy's distancs down really well we can start jackin up the fences! The highest I have ever jumped Sassy so far is 2'3 but I hope we can make it past that in a month or two!! Next is shows... We are really hoping to go to clemson this year but I am kinda worried about how Sassy will act. She has never been to a show before and I dont think we have much time to go to a schooling show first. I really dont care if I place or not I just want to go for the fun and the experience of it all!! If we go to Clemson we will probably just do flat classes and mabey X rails, I will have to talk to the fabulous Jenn in my lesson tomorrow. So yea... thats it for now... havin a great summer and I hope everyone else is too!!

some sad news

So unfourtuanly I have some sad news. I will not be attending the schooling show at Mullet Hall on the 20th. Jenn is not going to be in town and she would feel better if she was with me and Sassy's first show together. So I am going to to try to arrange another one later on. It is dissapointing but I will take Jenn's word and wait for her to be there. In other news... me and Sassy are still improving well! We have been working very hard on Sassy's distances. Sassy's biggest bad habbit is that she takes her fences long aaaaaallllllllll the time! And everytime she takes them long she switches her lead!! So I have been doing an excercise with her where I jump in a circle. Not a tight circle but just a circle of fences all the way around the ring. She is doing well if I remember how to ask her for things! Today we had a very good ride and I cant wait to show Jenn how we are doing on Monday in our lesson. Thats it for now.

Lessons

so I had my first lesson with Jenn today and it was great! We decided that I am going ot focus on hunters till about next year then move on to jumpers! Today Jenn just pretty much assesed how I asked Sassy to do things and how far we are jumping wise. I am suppose to have another lesson with her on Tuesday so I hope to learn even more. Also, the barn is suppose to get powerwashed this weekend so we they can hopefully attract more boreders. My dads friend is also suppose to come out to my dads land and see if he can use his backo to clear the land out for Sassy! It is going to be sooooooooo much fun when sassy is there and the barn is built and everything! I cant wait!!

Shows and fun

So today we went to Sydenys first ever show at mullet Hall!! Sydney was just so excited to go to her first show with JP. Carly did not show but she will be showing with me on the 20th (hopefully). Sara also took Badger to just get him used to the show grounds and everything but ended up going in some jumper classes at the end of the day and came out with two third places! way to go Sara! But now for the amazing.... Sydney got grand champion of her division!! Yay syds!! Three blue ribbons and then the grand champion ribbon. She was just so excited! I am really tired and sunburnt right now so that is basically just the jist of it. But there was difintaly more little details that I left out. I cant wait till my first show wiht Sassy on the 20th! (hopefully ;)

jump to it

So things are going okay lately. As you all know she has been having some health issues but they are almost all gone now!! She stopped getting her pills yesterday and she will stop getting her oral steriod next week! The lump on her neck is barely there now and she carries herself prettier! Her eye is also almost all healed, but we have a week or two left of the terimicen. In other news, we are going through a lot of trainers right now. Dionna is trying to get pregnant so she probably wont be training me anymore but Jenn might be coming back and training all the girls again! I really hope so. I have never had a trainer like her and will probably never have one like that again. But it will be so fun if she comes back! I am looking forward to our first show together on June 5th! The whole barn is gonna show and it is going to be awesome! Cant wait!

Catch up

So I know it's been awhile since my last post but there is not to much to write about. There has not been to much riding going on lately do to Sassy having some medical problems! Yes as we all know she had an eye infection going on for awhile and that she had a reaction to a sedation shot that we gave her. So Edisto came out on Monday to see Sassy. First he determined that her lump was not an abcess just an inflamed muscle, so Sassy is on antiboiotcs for that. Next he stuck a tube up Sassy's nose and made her eye turn into a waterfall! It was so nasty but it really cleared up her eye! THANKS EDISTO! I also learned that Edisto has a shadow program and I am going to do it! So I can help Sassy out a little more when she has an injury! :) I have the okay to ride Sassy and I think I will ride her for the first time on Friday! I cant wait! In other news Sara took Badger to Aiken last sunday and got a third place ribbon. Way to go! Unfortuanly I did not go but I heard it was good. So that's about all I can think of. I'll try to get some pictures in my next lesson with Dionna.

just some pictures

so I figured I would just post some pictures that I have been meaning to put on the computer but have not had time! So anyways... the first one is of Sassy's new look! We all know that I pulled Sassy's mane again but what you might not know is that I didn't mean for it to be a mohawk!! LOL! When I pulled it, it was laying down on her neck and the next day, poof! My mare's got a mohawk! Another thing is Sara decieded to use her new pink hoof polish on Sassy! so now Sassy is the punk horse! Mohawk and Pink hoofs! not that I mind, I love the horse that sticks out. hahahaha. So yea. the other one is of Badger free jumping! we free jumped him again and he cleared this height! I dont remember how tall it was. But yea... Sassy has been on stall rest for two days for a cut on her leg and I didn't want anything to get in it but now that it is improving I am going to turn her out tomorrow and hopefully ride her friday! yay! so thats about it. I'll probably write more after my lesson with Dionna on Saturday.

This is how I roll

So I really have been working with Sassy lately and today I finally got to experience what I have wanted to do with her for oh so long. JUMP!!!! In my lesson with Dionna today we started off riding with draw reins (Thank you Sara & Janet!) and Sassy was behaving very good! We then went on to the jumping. First we trotted a course of X rails and Sassy seemed even a bit bored with that. But at least she wasn't rushing or anything!! :) Then I cantered the whole X rail course! I havent cantered a course since I was leasing JP! Then (to my suprise) Dionna jacked up the fences! We jumped a whole 2ft course with one 2'3 jump!! The course included a one stride (Sassy has never done before), an bending line, and rollback (Sassy also has never done before)! Sassy was unbelieveable and I was so proud of myself for keeping confident and helping Sassy through the entire course! Dionna even says she wants to take me to a show in a month and do some flat classes! She also gave me the okay to take Sassy to clemson this summer if I can! I can't wait! And some other news... We have been making some changes to the barn again! Today Whit and a worker made a new pasture for Buddy & Jody! It is behind all the others by the old shed. Then we have more room for boarders. They also cut all the grass! YAY! It was getting a bit tall. Also Sara and Badger have been doing good. I was able to see her lesson on Thursday and they were practicing jumpers. They looked great! Carly & Sydney have been good too. I have not been lucky enough to see them jump in lessons yet but I have seen them on the flat and they look good! Way to go guys! Denise is doing good too! She and JP are a good match and they look great over the fences! keep it up! I know everyone knows it but I just thought I would say that Brandy (One of the knew ladys) gave Maje away and bought Bodi (Nancy's old horse). They are going to get along great, I just know it! so yea... 35 more days of school! Can't wait for summer!!

some new official changes

so we have had some new official changes around the barn lately. for one we have had two new horses in the past week!! A lady named Brandy brought over Maje. when I volunteered at Rein & Shine I used to ride Maje and and I also saw her but never rode her at M & M. Well Maje is back and is settling in well at J & B. Actually Callie who stopped taking lessons a couple of months ago is back and is hoping to lease Maje. We also have a new horse named Piper! Nicole Agujia bought him last night! tuff was just not working out for her so she decided to buy a horse that she really liked. Nicole had a lesson on him today and they looked pretty good. As for me and Sassy, we are doing good. she has been pretty fresh for the last couple of days so I think tomorrow before my lesson with Dionna (happy sara??) I will lunge her. Dionna said that tomorrow I can do ground poles with her!! YAY! I haven't done anything but flatwork in a month! We are going to use the poles to try to stop Sassy from rushing! I hope it works!!

Sassy update

yea so i am really bored and sick right now so I will give yall an update on Sassy! Lately we have been working on Sassy's head and MY position. Sassy's head is getting better and she seems to be enjoying her ride more. We all know i had to fix my position because I have a bad habit of Half Seat but it is dramatic. I learned from Deyonna why that is bad. it puts a lot of weight on Sassy's front end which is bad for her legs and it makes her strides short and choppy. if i sit back, especially at the trot, her strides are longer and oh so much prettier! It is very difficult for me to break that habit because I have always rode like that but I am working on it!! Also Sassy is getting A LOT calmer and laid back. She used to be so spaztic about everything and was somewhat hard to control when we rode. but now Sassy is very good! she will let me do just about anything to her, like, standing on her back, riding backwards, and ride with just a halter and leadrope. I haven't jumped her in about a month due to her training but I hope she is just as calm jumping as she is on the flat, she used to get very excited jumping! Along with her head I have been working on Sassy's flying lead changes. She is excellent about them going from the right lead to the left but she can get a bit difficult about going from left lead to right. OH well, she will get it eventually!! More updates coming soon!! :)

so I had ANOTHER birthday! :):) this time with the barn! It started out me and Sara got there and we rode even though it was raining! rain does't bother us! then when me and Sara and Sydney went back to the barn Janet put me to work to make sure i didn't go into the feed room because it was a suprise party and that is where they were hiding the stuff! Janet told me and Sara to bring in buddy and Jodie for the night so we went out to get them and when we came back... SUPRISE! In the middle of the isle was a big cake and presents and all kinds of stuff! we had a great time. Sara got me, a box of treats and some socks. Janet got me a picture frame with me and Sara's picute in it! i also got a sonic giftcard form Carly & Sydney. Thanks guys!! we took lots of pictures and i will post some as soon as Sara sends them to me! HINT HINT SARA!

new training

In case you didin't know, we have a new trainer! her name is Deyonna and she is training me, carly, sydney, and nicole. i had my first lesson with her on saturday and she is really great. she rode sassy when she was younger so she knows how she acts and her quirks. We started the lesson with some bending. Sassy is young and not very supple so it helped to do lots of beding with her neck. i then learned from Deyonna how to get Sassy's head down! i have to do a thing called "bumping" on her mouth. at first Sassy did not understand what i was asking because like i said, she is young and was never really properly trained. it took ahwile and some head tossing but eventually she got the message. when i rode her today she was doing it really well! Deyonna also taught me how to ask Sassy for her correct leads and we did a very tiring exercise with it. but i will suffer the sore muscles for Sassy!! we are pretty much starting from ground zero with Sassy and training her properly. but we are still hoping to go to a show some time in april or may! :)

so yea.

sooo. not much has been going on lately. Sassy is learning how to land on the correct lead after a fence and is getting better with her flying lead changes. also today i just messed around with her. i tried teaching her to bow. it is deffinitally going to take a while!! she came close to going down once so i ended it on that. and i practiced her backing up. she is doing it almost perfectly now! i still cant wait until our first show together!!

lately

so lately a lot has been going on. i will give the update on everyone. First off me!! Sassy has been doing well. she pulled a muscle in her front leg so she had about a week off and when i got on her again she didn't want to jump. she was refusing even the tinyest fence. with the help of the lovely jenn we got her jumping two feet with no refusals!! i took her on a trail ride with Sara today and she did well excpt for her usual competitveness. next... Sara and Badger! Sara has been working with Badger on his jumper training and dressage. he has been giving turns to Sara that are absolutly AMAZING!! and his extended trot is getting better too. and now for Carly & sydney! they have been doing great in their lessons and even trotting ground poles! way to go guys! everyone else is doing great too. we are also making some changes to the barn. today whit powerwashed the steel girders in the pasture and we hope to get the barn powerwashed and re-painted soon! and in case you don't know already we have a new barn member! Nicole A. has come and is riding tuff! already he is looking ten times better! good job nicole!!

Hey yall!

so this is the whole dealeo wiht whats been happining lately. We went up to aiken this weekend for Sara's first PSJ show!! although they didn't place, Badger and Sara did awesome! Badger was jsut a little to excited and couldn't get his fat butt around some of the turns. but it was a great learning experience! We all really enjoyed it. and then after that show me and Sara hopped on some of the horses that needed to be ridden. Sara got on jody forst and he was great! only one buck! then we got on crackerjack. he hadn't been ridden in a bout 3 months and din't really want to be ridden in the ring but once we took him on the trail he was great!!

Sassy and i are coming along good. she is getting more confident in her jumping and so am i!! it is not official but this weekend we might load up Sassy and take her to mullet hall for Sassy first show and my first in 3 years!! can't wait!!!!!!!!

update

Update!! so most important news first. The new trainer is in!! Mellisa Gross is officialy my, gia's, carly & sydney's, and callie's. Mellisa and i had our first lesson on friday of last week. It was great. i think it will all work out well. Next. Sassy is still behaving like a dream! she is somewhat sore so i really haven't ridden her in a couple of days. She is starting to really listen to me over the fences. she used to just snap her head up, race herself towards then fece, then pop it like a deer. now, she's slowing down, thinking about her jump, and acutally jumping nice and round. We might even do a mullet hall show in febuary if we keep improving! My next news is acutally for Sara and Badger. this weekend we are loading up Badge and driving to aiken for a psj show! Good luck Sara and Nobility's true badge!!

Thursday

so today was early at the barn! Sara and i went out there at 9:00 and stayed till 5:00! in that time we did what is expected. first we worked. all the stalls (ALL the horses were because of the cold) the hay, the feed, the water. then it was time to play!! first I pulled Sassy's mane!! it looks soooooooo much better! then me and Sara took Badger and Sassy down to the ring and put up some free-jumping fences. Sassy went first. she really hasn't been free jumped so she was kinda nervous and kept turning away at the last minute. but we got there in the end! we raised the bar to 2'6 and she cleared it like it was 3ft! she's more athletic than i thought! but then old pro at free-jumping badger came and the jumps went higher and WIDER! in the end we put the jumps 3ft high and 5ft 8inches wide! he cleared it like it was nothing. i will post pictures and videos when i find the camera cord!

news

So we have some new news around the barn. We are getting a new trainer! Jenn has decided she doesn't have time to train everyone so she will only train Sara. So me, Gia, carly & Sydney, and denise will get a Mellisa! I haven't met mellisa yet but from what i have heard she does just a bout everything. Jumper, Hunter, Barrels, gymkhana, and just about everything else. she is in college right now and is very excited to start training us. I will miss Jenn of course. i have never had another trainer like her before and there will probably never be one again. but at least Jenn isn't going away forever! As i said before she will still train Sara and she will continue to ride with us when she gets her own horse! can't wait to see him Jenn!!

so off of the sad news. Yesterday we had Sara's b-day party! it was quiet insteresting. It was sort of hard to keep Sara down at the ring while we set it up but we pulled it off! she was so suprised! the cake was excelent and so was everything else. I can't wait till our upcoming five - day weekend and i can ride every day! Get readty Sassifras!!

Tuxbury trail riding

So today we loaded up some horses and took of to the tuxbury trail! Sara rode Badger, Jenn rode Jack, Janet rode buddy, and I of course rode Sassy!! Badger of course gave us a hard time loading but not as bad as usual. And although she is slow at it Sassy always gets on. We got there and we met up with some very nice ladies before we went off on our adventure. It started out well, everyone going calm and collected. We had been riding for a bout a hour when it started to rain. It came down as a drizzle at first then it got harder and harder. But at least the horses didin't mind! Sassy defintally needs more trail experince. My mare has absolutly MASTERED the prancing technique. she can almost prance in place! So we need to go on a lot more trail rides!! I can't wait until we go again.
